The sun was still shining and the heat was still in the air for the Quayside 5km, a dash out along the Newcastle side of the quayside, before returning and finishing over the Millennium Bridge into Baltic Square. Two races on the night, a sub 20minutes A race and then a B race, 5 senior men set off on a dash in to the sun.
In the A Race, Louis was first home with a provisional new JJs Club 5km record pulling on the JJs vest in race mode for the first time. Jake Archer was next in, followed by a few PBs from Niran Patel and Mark Adamson, with Ben McMain pushing them both on finishing between them.
The B Race started not long after, and Simon Wells, Izzy Sharrock and Jonny Greenwell set off with the 20mins pace with Cliff Veitch and Matty Down in close attendance. On the return the sub 20 was slipping away with Cliff showing his strength and pacing nous to pull through to be the first JJ home and first M55. Izzy Sharrock was next crossing the line with a 3rd female placing and 1st senior women, just missing out on her PB. Jonny making his club debut and indeed his first ever race produced a great run with a 20:26 clocking. Simon Wells was just behind, having the wheels come off in the last mile but still getting some shouts of encouragement from his school class to keep him going. With a great run from Cesc Nichols behind Matty, Emily had a great run dipping under her target of 23 minutes. Evergreen Graeme Leathard made up the JJs finishers on a very hot and sunny night.
