On Sunday 5th of December 27 JJs turned out for the first Xmas 5k Handicap Race on the Town Moor, using the parkrun route.
The weather was wet and cold but didn’t dampen the Xmas Spirit shown in the fancy dress outfits on show. The marshals did a great job directing people to keep the runners on the course.  Graeme Leathard set off the event, starting first on scratch with Jonny Law the last to go off and hunt down the other runners.

First place was taken by Killian McCartney with Lottie Rhodes as first female finisher (and second place overall)

After the race we made our way back to Jesmond Pool to lovely warming soup and scones that were kindly provided by Mike and Lorna Miller.  Everyone left with a Secret Santa present.

The prize for the best fancy dress was awarded to Rob Dooley who was dressed, appropriately for the weather, as a duck.

We hope this will be event that will continue to grow with years to come.
