Pitchforks, Willow Miners and Undulations!

The JJs made their way to Durham for a lovely race organised by Elvet Striders. Starting from a farm the rice wound its way up to the Willow Miner overlooking the stunning Durham countryside, a place that not so long ago would have been awash with collieries.

With some stresses getting there, Tom looking particularly stressed on arrival, eventually the JJs had their pre-race photo, but with a farm setting took advantage of the many straw bales around. Tom set off up the straight meaning business and was the first JJ home round the lovely undulating course. Behind, Pany, Simon, Cliff and Alex pushed on and were in a small group until Cliff pulled away leaving Pany and Alex battling down the home straight. Simon was next in, chased by Emily who had a great run to be first JJ female home. Angus was home next and great to see Gordon finally making his club debut with a great run. Liz and Catherine were next home, with Megan rounding up the JJ’s, returning to racing after injury. A great race, and one to recommended for next year. In the past, JJs have had great success with 2nd and 3rd places in the women’s and men’s races. Maybe next year!
