The ever-popular, but notoriously tough, Kielder Marathon weekend saw a number of JJs head north to take on the beautiful but undulating courses around Kielder Water.

In the half marathon, Emma Leveson and Charlotte Hicks both had great runs, tackling the hills and taking in the stunning scenery along the way.

In the marathon, Nick Allen continued his excellent run of form with a fantastic 3:11:51 to finish 14th overall. Bertie Marks was next home for the JJs in a very respectable 3:30:39, with Samuel Bunn also breaking the four-hour mark in 3:50:25.

Abigail Hearmon put in a great effort to finish in 4:25:18, while Rob Dooley battled his way around in just over five hours.

And then there was Meg Holmes! Meg’s marathon entry was, shall we say, somewhat accidental – but having found herself entered, she decided there was only one thing to do… turn up and run the thing! With not a huge amount of training behind her, Meg deserves plenty of credit for digging deep and completing the Kielder Marathon in 5:09:24.9. That’s certainly one way to find yourself marathon fit!

Well done to all our JJs who took on the Kielder challenge. A tough course, some great performances and plenty of stories to tell afterwards. 💙
